Traveling across the country from their home in Maryland to Sonoma, California, Copeland Motorsports will enter a trio of drivers across a pair of racing divisions this weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Taking on the SRO America TC America program, Mason Filippi will enter TCR behind the wheel of a Hyundai Veloster N while Tyler Maxson and Dinah Weisberg will do battle in TCA in their Mazda MX-5 entries.

“We have been looking forward to this weekend for quite a while,” explained Dean Copeland. “This will be our debut with the Hyundai Veloster N in the TCR class, but our return to the division since competing in 2018. Additionally, Tyler and Dinah provide us with excellent opportunities to win and podium in TCA. A double win would make for a great trip out west.”

Competing in the SRO Motorsports Group America TCR event at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this season, Filippi claimed the checkers in both wheel-to-wheel events over the weekend taking home $15,000 in contingency money. Looking to continue where he left off, a double victory in the debut for Copeland Motorsports is not out of the question.

Georgia resident and 14-year-old Tyler Maxson sits second in the TCA point standings despite missing one race, and is coming off a double podium performance in Virginia. Battling hard for the race win, Maxson came up just short, but will look to level up this weekend in wine country.

Copeland continued, “Tyler has everything it takes to be a winner in TCA. Sonoma is a track that I think really compliments his driving style, and I am sure he will be in a position to fight for the win. Coming out on top could be a major turning point for Tyler and we will do everything we can to help him to the top step of the podium.”

The third entrant for the weekend will be Dinah Weisberg as she will join Maxson in TCA. Showing improvement with each passing weekend, Weisberg will look to make her way up the running order and put another Mazda entry near the front of the field.

On track action will begin Friday with practice while qualifying and wheel-to-wheel racing will take place Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned to the Copeland Motorsports social media pages for news, information, results and photos from Sonoma Raceway.
