After three race wins at the most recent TC America round at the famed Sonoma Raceway, Copeland Motorsports is making the cross country trip again, this time to Portland, Oregon. Set to take on the Portland International Raceway, double TCA winner Tyler Maxson will be back behind the wheel of a Mazda MX-5 while TCR victor Mason Filippi will look to pilot the Hyundai Veloster N to victory once again

“It is a long trip from our shop in Maryland to Oregon, but if we can continue the recent success that we have had in the TC America program, it will all be worth it,” explained Dean Copeland. “With three wins and four top-five finishes in California, our sights are firmly set on the top step of the podium in Portland.”

Filippi will make his second start for Copeland Motorsports in the Hyundai Veloster N machine after first and fifth place finishes just over a month ago. As one of the fastest drivers all weekend long, lapped traffic ruined a near perfect weekend in the team’s Hyundai debut.

14-year-old Tyler Maxson, who currently sits second in the overall points championship and handily leads the rookie title chase, will look to build off his double victory weekend in June. With TC America race wins now part of his resume, and confidence building each and every time on track, Maxson and Copeland Motorsports are hoping to repeat their California performance.

Copeland continued, “We would love to have more drivers compete in TC America, and we have the cars to do so. With the next two events in the eastern half of the United States, we will be able to push harder and keep costs down for any interested drivers.”

On track action will begin Friday with practice and qualifying while wheel-to-wheel racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned to the Copeland Motorsports social media pages for news, information, results, and photos from Sonoma Raceway.
