Currently at the halfway mark in the 2020 season, Copeland Motorsports is heading to one of their most favorite racetracks in the United States, Road America. Looking to take the Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin facility by storm, Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez will look to continue their momentum in the Kettle Moraine region.
“We are anxious to get back on track and see what we can do,” expressed Team owner Dean Copeland. “Tyler Maxson has scored all eight TCR wins in 2020 while Tyler Gonzalez has four wins in TCA and six straight podiums. Road America is one of those tracks that you always want to win at as it one of North America’s premier facilities.”
Atop the TCR ranks, Tyler Maxson leads the drivers’ championship by ninety-five points while Tyler Gonzalez is the TCA point leader by nineteen markers. As a team, Copeland Motorsports leads the TCR Team Championship by eighty points while they sit second in the TCA Team Championship standings only a mere five markers behind the current leader.
Tyler Maxson added, “This has been a dream season to date and though we are focused on finishing the TC America Championship strong, we are already looking at future events and programs for 2021.”
“It has been a good restart to the season, but it has not come without stress and drama,” explained Gonzalez. “An overnight engine change at VIR, starting from the tail of the grid and some other issues have tried to knock us down, but we have come out swinging to get back to our feet. A huge thanks to all of my partners for all of their hard work, support and efforts to date.”
Copeland continued, “We are only bringing the Tylers to Road America, but we will have the opportunity to add another driver in both TCA and TCR for the remainder of 2020. If you want to be part of a winning program, we are only a phone call away.”
Copeland Motorsports program will hit the track on Wednesday for a Promoters Test Day before official practice begins on Thursday. With another triple header weekend in store, qualifying and race one will take place on Friday with races two and three on Saturday and Sunday.
