It was a trip to The Lone Star State for Copeland Motorsports as they battled the lengthy Circuit of the Americas for rounds five and six of the Toyota GR Cup North America program. Bringing the same five drivers they had for the first two events in 2024, the potent program earned a pole position, two wins, and four podium results.

Gresham Wagner led the way on Saturday, earning the pole position, just ahead of his two Copeland Motorsports teammates, Jaxon Bell and West Workman, occupying positions two and three. Adam Brickley and Mia Lovell put five drivers in the top-ten with sixth and tenth-place qualifying efforts as the first wheel-to-wheel racing took place later that afternoon.

Just as they did in qualifying, Copeland Motorsports swept the top three positions and earned their third podium sweep of the season as Wagner picked up his fifth win of 2024, alongside Workman and Bell, who joined him on the podium. Extending his Driver Championship point lead and the Team Championship point lead, Copeland Motorsports has become synonymous with winning in the past two seasons of GR Cup Series competition. Behind Wagner, Workman, and Bell, Brickley was the best of the rest, crossing the line in the eighth position when the checkered flag flew, as Mia Lovell was classified in 28th after being forced to retire early.

Back to the track Sunday, Wagner earned the pole position for the second day in a row but was forced to start from the tail of the field due to a non-performance-enhancing technical infraction. Due to Wagner’s issue, Jaxon Bell slotted into the second position and would start race two from the front row with Workman inside row two in P3. Brickley was scheduled to roll off the grid seventh with Lovell in 14th as she rebounded from her Saturday issues.

Keeping their win streak alive, Jaxon Bell piloted his Copeland Motorsports entry to the win, earning his first GR Cup Series victory. Workman made it six podium results in six tries, crossing the finish line third as Wagner drover from 30th on the grid to finish sixth, earning the Hard Charger Award. Unfortunately, Adam Brickley and Mia Lovell were forced to retire before the end of race two.

“More wins, podiums, and more points for our program,” expressed Copeland Motorsports’ Dean Copeland. “Congrats to Gresham on his fifth win, Jaxon on his first win, Westin on two more podiums, and the entire team for a solid weekend. We have eight weeks until the next race, but this program does not rest.”

The Copeland Motorsports Toyota GR Cup North America program’s next trip is to the famed Virginia International Raceway over the July 19-21 weekend.
