It is the trek across country that is dreaded all year but the facility they want to visit the most this weekend for Copeland Motorsports. Leaving their home base in Maryland and driving from coast-to-coast, or a simple 55 hours, the destination for this weekend’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge event is the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Entering the same two Hyundai Veloster N TCRs with the same driver pairing as they have in weekends past, Copeland Motorsports will see Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez pilot the #27 while Mason Filippi and AJ Muss will be back behind the wheel of the #51 entry.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca – Pre-Event Quotes

Tyler Maxson – #27
“I am really looking forward to getting back out to Laguna Seca. Both myself and Copeland Motorsports have had some success there in the past, albeit in different series, but I think we have some good momentum and confidence heading into the weekend. We have been fast a lot this year, just luck has not been on our side so we are hoping that we can flip the script on the other side of the country this weekend.”

Tyler Gonzalez – #27
“The Copeland Motorsports crew is second to none and they have proven that both in their pit stops and work off the track this season. Not only do they deserve a win, I think Tyler and I do as well and that is what we will be pushing for. We have had a pole position, a front row starting spot, lots of speed, podiums and several top-five finishes. Once we get that first win, the rest will come and there is no better weekend to do it than this weekend.”

Mason Filippi – #51
“I can’t wait to jump back into the #51 Hyundai Veloster N TCR at Laguna! It’s a California home race for AJ and I and one of my favorite tracks on the 2021 calendar. I know Copeland Motorsports is going to bring their A game, and we are ready to finish up the season strong!”

Dean Copeland – Team Manager
“The goals are the same as it has been all season long, win, or podium, take care of your equipment and get the best out of the car every lap. We have a strong quartet of drivers, and I am confident that this weekend will be successful for both. We are looking to put the Hyundai and Copeland Motorsports logos on the top step of the podium.”

With only three events remaining on the 2021 Michelin Pilot Challenge calendar, Copeland Motorsports will hit the track this Friday before the green flag flies on the two-hour race Saturday afternoon.
