Set to make their TC America Hyundai debut, Copeland Motorsports is pleased to confirm Mason Filippi to their driver lineup. Securing a one race deal at the upcoming TC America TCR event at Sonoma Raceway over the June 7-9 weekend, Filippi will pilot a Hyundai Veloster N TCR in their first TCR event of the 2019 season.

“We are excited to have Mason as part of the Copeland Motorsports program at Sonoma,” explained Dean Copeland. “Mason is a proven winner behind the wheel of a Hyundai, claiming two wins at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this season. He will be a valuable asset to our growing program, and we can’t wait to hit the track in California.”

“I am excited to be joining Copeland Motorsports in their new Hyundai Veloster N TCR,” exclaimed Mason Filippi. “Sonoma is a home track for me, and Copeland Motorsports has always put fourth a really strong car in competition. Hopefully Sonoma will not be my only event as I would love to see what we can do to complete the rest of the TC America program in 2019.”

Competing in the SRO Motorsports Group America TCR event at the Circuit of the Americas earlier this season, Filippi claimed the checkers in both wheel-to-wheel events over the weekend taking home $15,000 in contingency money. Looking to continue where he left off, a double victory in a new class and new car debut for Copeland Motorsports is not out of the question.

Filippi continued, “In the Hyundai Veloster N TCR I have found great success at all tracks, especially the season opener for TC America at the Circuit of the Americas where the team and I won both races. The Veloster N TCR is a great chassis with strong balance and handling characteristics that give the driver confidence through every corner. I am sure it will be a great car at the upcoming Sonoma event.”

Set to take to the track on June 7 for practice, Filippi and Copeland Motorsports will be looking for the checkered flag in race one of the weekend on Saturday, and then again in race two Sunday.
