Already confirming his intentions in two different Copeland Motorsports race programs in 2023, Tyler Gonzalez has added a third series of competition to his schedule. Returning to the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich, Gonzalez will look to build upon his four victories from the 2022 race season and make a run at the series title.

“I am looking forward to returning back to the MX-5 Cup paddock and pushing for more wins as well the series championship,” explained Gonzalez. “MX-5 Cup provides some of the closest competition in motorsports and exciting wheel-to-wheel racing. Copeland Motorsports is one of the best teams in the paddock and has helped me a ton get to where I am today. To be able to race in three different race programs with them this coming season is exciting, and I will look to add to their winning resume in all of them.”

“We are happy to have Tyler back in multiple programs in 2023,” exclaimed Dean Copeland. “As a Toyota development driver in the Toyota GR Cup North America as well as part of a powerful 1-2 punch in our GT4 America efforts with Tyler Maxson, the Mazda MX-5 Cup series will round out the schedule and see a lot of racing for Tyler. As a team, we won the series title in 2019 with Bryan Ortiz and our goal is to get back and do it again.”

Gonzalez will join already confirmed Copeland Motorsports Mazda MX-5 Cup drivers of Max Opalski and Jeremy Fletcher.

With the start of the 2023 season at the Daytona International Speedway on the horizon, Copeland Motorsports has assembled a talented group that should be able to challenge for race wins, podium results, and the 2023 series championship.
