It is the first part of a double header weekend this coming weekend at the famed Watkins Glen International Raceway. Entering a pair of Hyundai Veloster N TCR machines in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Copeland Motorsports will see Mason Fillippi and AJ Muss behind the wheel of the #51 machine as Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez will look to take the #27 entry to the top step of the podium
“It is a busy two weeks for us and a little out of the norm with back-to-back races at the same facility,” explained Dean Copeland. “While it is the same location, the approach to each weekend is a little different with this weekend’s event a four-hour race and the Fourth of July weekend event a two-hour race. The goal remains the same for both, however the preparation is key to ensure that we are successful.”
Competing this coming weekend in the Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240, the two Copeland Motorsports entries will look to take advantage of their lightning quick pitstops and on track speed to find their way to the top of the results sheet. With both cars claiming top-five results, as well as leading laps in the 2021 season, Copeland Motorsports is targeting New York as a breakthrough and winning weekend in the event closest to their home.
As part of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen weekend, Fillippi, Muss, Maxson and Gonzalez will hit the track Friday, June 25th for a pair of practice sessions before qualifying takes place later that afternoon. Saturday will be the home of the Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240, a four-hour race that takes the green flag at 2:05pm.
