With great success in their one and only TC America event in 2020 to date, Copeland Motorsports is set to grow their driver lineup with the addition of Texan Luke Lange. Joining the 2019 championship winning team in TC America competition, Lange will enter the remainder of the 2020 season as a rookie running alongside TCA frontrunner and now teammate Tyler Gonzalez behind the wheel of a Hyundai Veloster.
“I was able to meet Luke at the June Sprints last week, and he impressed me both on and off the track,” explained Copeland Motorsports’ Dean Copeland. “Luke is mature beyond his years and from what I could tell, he was pretty fast behind the wheel. We had a few meetings and by the end of the weekend were finalizing a deal for the rest of the season.”
With Tyler Maxson (TCR) and Tyler Gonzalez (TCA) already part of the winning program, Luke Lange becomes another piece to the growing, yet successful puzzle.
Copeland added, “While we encourage our drivers to work together both on and off the track, we understand that this is racing, and they are all fighting for the top step of the podium. Both Gonzalez and Lange will push one another to be more successful on track while building their friendship off the track.”
“I have tested the Hyundai on a few occasions, but I knew after the very first session that this was the direction I wanted to go,” added Lange. “The goal was to give myself the best chance to win right away and Copeland Motorsports provides that opportunity. It has been a steep learning curve so far, but I am ready for my first TC America event in a few weeks at VIR.”
Lange enters the Copeland Motorsports program with much success in the top tier of karting. Competing through the 2019 season in the junior ranks, Lange scored multiple race wins across the country with the powerhouse Speed Concepts Racing program including victories at the Superkarts! USA Winter Series and Texas Pro Kart Challenge, and claimed podium results at the SKUSA Pro Tour, ROK Cup USA events and the World Karting Association Manufacturers Cup.
