With multiple race programs already taking the green flag on the 2023 race season, Copeland Motorsports is set to begin two more this coming weekend. Traveling clear across the country to the famed Sonoma Raceway, Copeland Motorsports prepared entries will enter both the Pirelli GT4 America and Toyota GR Cup North America programs with a total of four cars and five drivers.
“It is an exciting time for us, and we have been putting a ton of effort in behind the scenes,” expressed Dean Copeland. “We are headed to Sonoma with four brand new Toyota machines and look to represent the manufacturer, and our brand, with race wins and podium results.”
While a trio of divers will enter the Toyota GR Cup North America series, a single entry in the Pirelli GT4 America effort will be led by the teenage duo of Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez. Synonymous with winning, Maxson and Gonzalez are pairing up again after a TCR effort in 2020 that saw them show the speed to win. Going their different directions in 2021 and 2022, the band is back together for 2023 and could be a threat for the race one win, and the series title when the final checkered flag flies later this year.
Three single-driver Copeland Motorsports entries will enter the Toyota GR Cup led by multi-time Mazda MX-5 Cup race winner Tyler Gonzalez, rookie driver Paul Bocuse, and veteran Drake Kemper. With three drivers in one program, Copeland Motorsports will look to utilize the resources around them to fight for the inaugural race win.
Copeland continued, “We are pushing hard in SRO competition this year. We are happy to be back in the series and with a fresh focus. We are entering the 2023 season with a strong lineup, that I feel will get even stronger as we move forward through the year.”
Ready to hit the track Wednesday and Thursday for a pair of Promoters Test Days, Friday will be the home for official practice before qualifying and the wheel-to-wheel action commences over the weekend.
